The Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur, convicted Bhuban Mohan Dash, Former Area Manager of MARKFED, Jagannathpur, Ganjam district, in a corruption case involving misappropriation of government money.
Dash, who was earlier dismissed from service, received his fourth conviction in Vigilance cases.
Odisha Vigilance charged Dash under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 409 of the IPC. Investigators proved that Dash misappropriated ₹20,64,600 by manipulating official records and giving unauthorised advances to private individuals for seed supply.
The Vigilance Court sentenced Dash to three years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000.
This latest ruling marks Dash’s fourth conviction in corruption cases. He was earlier convicted on October 31, 2023, by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, and on May 4, 2024 and November 30, 2024, by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur, all for misappropriation of government funds.
