Sukanta Kumar Das, a former Junior Clerk in the office of the Tahasildar, Kujanga, and currently posted as a Junior Clerk at the Collectorate, Jagatsinghpur, has been convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

The case dates back to September 23, 2017, when Das was caught demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant in exchange for facilitating the issuance of a Record of Rights (RoR) in a lease case. Following an extensive investigation, Odisha Vigilance charged him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Das has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for four years and was immediately sent to jail custody to serve his sentence. Additionally, Odisha Vigilance has announced its intention to move the competent authority for his dismissal from government service.

This conviction underscores Odisha Vigilance’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in public service.
