The Fifth Convocation Ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar was held today, graced by the presence of the Hon’ble President of India and addressed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha.

In a stirring speech, the Chief Minister congratulated the graduates, faculty, and families, emphasising the institute’s pivotal role in advancing medical education, research, and healthcare under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister highlighted AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s contributions to India’s healthcare landscape, particularly its recognition as a Centre of Excellence for Sickle Cell Anaemia eradication, aligning with the Prime Minister’s mission to combat the disease. He also praised the institute’s adoption of digital initiatives, such as e-payment facilities, which support Modi’s Digital India vision, making healthcare more accessible and efficient.

Odisha’s integration of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana with the state’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana was another focal point, with the Chief Minister noting that the scheme provides cashless and portable health coverage to over 3.52 crore people in the state, with special provisions for women and senior citizens.

Addressing the graduates, the Chief Minister called them the “pride of Odisha and India,” urging them to tackle global healthcare challenges with knowledge, compassion, and integrity. “Your expertise will save lives, your research will advance medicine, and your compassion will heal hearts,” he said, emphasising the immense responsibility and opportunity awaiting them.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting AIIMS Bhubaneswar through enhanced healthcare infrastructure, research promotion, and equitable medical services across Odisha. He envisioned Odisha as a hub of medical excellence, with AIIMS Bhubaneswar at its forefront.

The ceremony concluded with the Chief Minister thanking the faculty, staff, and families for their unwavering support and wishing the graduates success in their mission to serve society. The event underscored AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s growing stature as a beacon of medical innovation and public health in India.
