The political fraternity of Odisha mourns the loss of Karendra Majhi, a former MLA from Baliguda in Kandhamal district, who passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Majhi, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as the MLA for the Baliguda constituency twice, in 2004 and 2009, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed profound grief over the demise, stating on his social media account, “I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear about the passing of our party’s senior leader and former Baliguda MLA, Karendra Majhi. His loss is irreparable to us all. I extend my condolences to his bereaved family and pray to Lord Jagannath for the eternal peace of the departed soul.”

The CM Majhi, along with State BJP Chief Manmohan Samal, visited Capital Hospital to pay his last respects and offer tributes to the late leader.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also shared his condolences on his X account, describing Majhi as a simple and altruistic individual. “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Karendra Majhi, our party’s former MLA from Baliguda in Kandhamal district. He was always committed to the welfare and service of tribal communities. His contributions to the development of his constituency will remain unforgettable,” Pradhan noted, extending sympathies to Majhi’s family and praying for the departed soul’s salvation.

Karendra Majhi was widely respected for his commitment to the upliftment of tribal communities and his contributions to the development of Baliguda. His passing has left a void in Odisha’s political landscape, with leaders and citizens alike remembering him for his simplicity and dedication to public service.
