Raipur: Five security personnel were killed at the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border region of Bijapur following an encounter with a group of Maoists on Saturday.
The injured jawans of DRG and CRPF were immediately shifted to the nearby hospital but they succumbed while being treated. A total of 20 security forces suffered injuries in the incident.
One Maoist was also killed during the gun battle.
The joint operation was conducted by CRPF’s elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF).
