A shocking and tragic incident occurred in Mahuldarha village under the Palakudar Gram Panchayat of Riamal Police Station area in Odisha’s Deogarh district.
A youth, Kishor Majhi (29), lost his life due to electrocution while fishing on Saturday. Kishor was the son of Golabadan Majhi of Mahuldarha village.
Reports indicate that Kishor was using an electric water pump to drain a pond connected to the Tahu canal for fishing. While he was inside the canal, one of his companions reportedly connected the pump to an electrical source. Kishor came in contact with the live electrical current, leading to his untimely demise. His friends, scared by the incident, refrained from informing anyone immediately.
Later, Kishor was rushed to the Debagarh District Headquarters Hospital in the evening, where doctors declared him dead. His body has been preserved for autopsy and will be handed over to his family post-examination, as per police sources.
The incident has left the community in shock, highlighting the dangers of unsafe practices and the importance of awareness regarding electrical safety.
