The day began with an emotional ceremony at St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by a procession leading to St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome. In a private burial, Pope Francis chose a final resting place outside the Vatican—a rare departure from tradition. His coffin was greeted by 40 individuals symbolising his compassion for the marginalised, holding white roses in a poignant tribute.
Dignitaries such as Donald Trump, Keir Starmer, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the ceremony, making headlines with their presence.
