Balasore: Stigma and fear of contracting coronavirus forced a family to abandon a youth as he died alone at a government hospital in Balasore district.
As per reports, a youth from Nandor village was admitted to a healthcare centre in Khaira block and later to Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) on Thursday after he complained of severe chest pain.
Later, the youth tested positive for the infection during the mandatory Covid-19 test at the CHC. After gaining knowledge of the disease, his family members abandoned him at the hospital following which he succumbed to the deadly virus.
His family members came to the hospital after several attempts by the CHC authorities.
