Commissionerate police have arrested three individuals for allegedly duping job seekers by falsely promising employment in Israel.
The accused—Babulahari Gouda from Odisha and his associates, Mahesh Ramchandra Lokhande and Kiran Shashikant Ghumre from Mumbai—allegedly used fake advertisements and forged official-looking documents to deceive victims.
According to reports, they demanded an initial payment of Rs 5,000, followed by Rs 70,000 upon issuing fraudulent job offer letters. A complaint filed by Sunil Kumar Sah, Protector of Emigrants, Bhubaneswar (Ministry of External Affairs), led to the arrests.
Investigations revealed that the accused had no authorisation for recruitment and were operating illegally. Police seized resumes, counterfeit documents, and mobile phones as evidence.
Authorities are urging job seekers to verify recruitment agencies thoroughly before making financial commitments.
