Kulamani Pradhan, a retired draftsman of CESU Angul, has been convicted in a bribery case and sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment.
The judgment was delivered by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul.
The convict had been charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant seeking a domestic electric connection. Along with the imprisonment, he was ordered to pay a fine of Rs 5,000.
Following his conviction, Sri Kulamani Pradhan was taken into custody to serve his sentence. Odisha Vigilance has announced plans to approach the competent authority to halt his pension benefits, marking a strong stance against corruption and ensuring accountability among public officials.
