UEFA confirmed that the 2028 European Championship will begin in Cardiff on June 9 and conclude with the final at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 9.
England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will co-host the 2028 European Championship, featuring 24 nations that compete in 51 matches across nine venues in eight cities.
Cardiff will host the opening match, while Wembley in London will stage the final on July 9. Birmingham, Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Newcastle will also host matches. Wembley will stage both semifinals and one quarterfinal, while Dublin, Glasgow, and Cardiff will host the other quarterfinals.
Organisers will spread round of 16 matches across all host venues except Wembley. Host nations that qualify directly will play their group-stage matches on home soil, giving fans strong local support.
UEFA set three official kick-off times for the tournament: 1400 GMT (7:30 PM IST), 1700 GMT (10:30 PM IST), and 2000 GMT (1:30 AM IST).
In May, UEFA clarified that England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will participate in qualifying. Officials reserved only two spots if those nations fail to qualify automatically. England, runner-up at Euro 2024, will aim to go one step further. Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will look to improve after missing out or exiting early in Germany last year.
Belfast will host the Euro 2028 qualifying draw on December 6, 2026, underscoring Northern Ireland’s role in the tournament build-up.
