Police discovered the beheaded body of an elderly man in Matigadia village under Sukinda Police Station limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday morning.

The victim, identified as Dasarath Behera, lived in the same village. His body lay about 100 metres from his house. Investigators confirmed that his neck had been severed, pointing to a brutal murder. The motive remains unclear.

Dasarath Behera had two sons. One works in Keonjhar, while the other runs a shop in the village. Reports state that Dasarath lived alone. On Wednesday night, his son, who resides in the village, served him dinner before leaving.

Villagers noticed the body early Thursday and alerted the police. Officers from Sukinda Police Station reached the location, recovered the body, and began their investigation. Authorities sent the body for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Police officials stated that the incident clearly indicates murder. They continue searching for clues and possible suspects. Investigators aim to uncover the reason behind the killing and identify those responsible.

The shocking discovery has left the village in fear. Residents demand swift action and justice for Dasarath Behera. Police assured the community that they will intensify efforts to solve the crime.
