A shocking crime has surfaced in Ramapur police limits under Dunguripali block of Sonepur district, where an elderly man allegedly raped a minor girl.
The accused, identified as Rupa Mahananda, reportedly entered the girl’s house when she was alone. He locked the door and forced himself on her under the pretext of giving medicine. The victim’s family lodged a complaint at Ramapur police station, leading to the immediate registration of a case.
Police, along with a scientific team from Balangir, visited the spot and initiated an investigation. After conducting a medical examination of the accused, authorities produced him before the Sonepur POCSO Court. The court rejected his bail plea, and he was subsequently sent to Sonepur jail.
The incident has sparked outrage in the locality, with villagers and activists demanding strict action against the accused. The case highlights the vulnerability of minors and the urgent need for vigilance in rural communities.
