The Odia Literary Trail, organised by Ekamra Walks—an initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA)—is set to take place every Sunday until February 2026, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
This trail invites citizens, students, and culture enthusiasts to explore Odisha’s rich literary and linguistic legacy through a series of performances and expert sessions.
This weekend’s featured performance will be the traditional “Sabar Sabaruni Nata,” presented by a folk troupe from Boudh district. This performance, deeply rooted in indigenous rituals and oral traditions, offers participants an insightful glimpse into the tribal cultural heritage of Odisha.
In addition to the performance, the trail will include a storytelling session led by one of the most renowned professional storytellers. This Sunday, she will bring to life the classic story ‘Nila Mastarani’ by Pandit Godabarisha Mohapatra, delivering an engaging and immersive experience of Odia literature and folklore.

The event will also feature a special talk by Dr. Debasish Mahapatra on “The Chronological Development of Odia Script and Language.” His presentation will guide participants through the historical evolution of the Odia language and its script, emphasising its cultural significance and continuity.
Officials from the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, who are collaborating on the program, have stressed that blending folk art, storytelling, and scholarly insights in public heritage initiatives fosters cultural understanding and encourages community engagement.
Interested participants must book their slots online at www.ekamra-walks.com (Phone: 7005205400) and report to Ekamra Haat on Sunday before the walk begins.
Ekamra Walks continues to promote meaningful engagement with Odisha’s heritage, providing an inclusive platform to experience the state’s language, literature, and cultural traditions.
