In a significant step toward bolstering grassroots welfare, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida chaired a high-level meeting at the Women and Child Development Department’s conference hall to review and restructure the operations of Odisha’s Social Welfare Board.

The meeting focused on enhancing the board’s outreach and impact, aligning with the state government’s people-centric programs.

Dy CM Parida emphasised the board’s pivotal role in ensuring that government welfare schemes reach the grassroots effectively. To achieve this, the board will collaborate with reputed non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across the state, enlisting them to drive awareness campaigns in rural areas. “Our goal is to create widespread awareness and ensure that every village benefits from the state’s welfare initiatives,” Parida stated.

A key outcome of the meeting was the directive to develop an annual activity calendar to streamline the board’s operations and expand its scope. Parida also stressed the need for infrastructure development to support the board’s ambitious plans, underscoring the importance of a robust foundation for sustainable impact.

The meeting saw participation from key officials, including Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Subha Sharma, Director of the Social Welfare Board, Monisha Banerjee, and other departmental officers. Their collective expertise will guide the board’s transformation into a dynamic force for social change.

This initiative marks a renewed commitment to empowering Odisha’s marginalised communities, with the Social Welfare Board poised to become a catalyst for inclusive development. As the state gears up to implement this roadmap, the focus remains on transparency, collaboration, and grassroots engagement.
