In a major blow to cross-border drug syndicates, Kandhamal Police have arrested a key accused from Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, exposing the wider network behind one of the biggest ganja hauls in the region.
The breakthrough follows the June 2 seizure of 1,470 kg of ganja — valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore — from a Tata truck (MH 03 CV 5030) near Sutani Ghati in the Luising area under Gochapada Police Station limits. Acting on specific intelligence, officers intercepted the vehicle and arrested its driver, Yogesh Meena (42), a resident of Dewas district in Madhya Pradesh.
During sustained interrogation, police uncovered the involvement of an organised inter-state syndicate. Using digital footprints and technical surveillance, a team led by Investigating Officer SI Ananta Kumar Pradhan conducted a targeted raid in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. They apprehended Aditya Mishra alias Rakesh alias Sawariya (28), son of late Ram Bihari Mishra, along with a white Mahindra Scorpio N (MP17ZR9375) and four mobile phones believed to have been used for coordinating the illicit supply chain.
Both accused have been formally arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The seized contraband, truck, Scorpio vehicle, and mobile phones have been taken into custody as crucial evidence.
Kandhamal Police emphasised their ongoing commitment to dismantling narcotics networks operating across state lines. Dedicated teams continue to work relentlessly in remote and challenging terrains to disrupt supply routes and target larger syndicates, in line with the national mission for a drug-free India.
