A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was killed and three others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Maoist insurgents during an anti-Naxal operation in the National Park area of Bijapur district early Monday morning.
According to Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) P. Sundarraj, the blast occurred while DRG personnel were conducting a combing operation in the forested terrain known for Maoist activity. The deceased jawan has been identified as Dinesh Nag, whose sacrifice underscores the persistent risks faced by security forces in the region.
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and are reported to be in stable condition. Authorities have intensified surveillance and reinforcement in the area to prevent further attacks.
This incident marks a grim reminder of the ongoing conflict in the Bastar region, where Maoist insurgents continue to target security forces using guerrilla tactics and hidden explosives.
