Ahead of Diwali, the Cuttack Police have announced time restrictions on bursting firecrackers in the city. Residents can burst crackers only between 7 PM and 9 PM. The order follows similar restrictions already enforced in Bhubaneswar.
Reason Behind the Restrictions
Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Rishikesh Khilari) said the decision aims to control air and noise pollution during Diwali. He urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and follow the guidelines issued by the State Pollution Control Board.
“As Diwali is tomorrow, I request every citizen of Cuttack to follow the rules and burst crackers only between 7 PM and 9 PM,” said DCP Khilari.
Strict Action for Rule Violations
The Commissionerate Police have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who bursts firecrackers after 9 PM. Police officials have appealed to residents to follow the rules and celebrate the festival safely.
Safety Guidelines for Citizens
Authorities have urged people to:
-
Burst firecrackers only in open and safe spaces.
-
Keep children away from fireworks.
-
Store crackers safely and away from flammable materials.
-
Follow all safety measures to avoid accidents.
Police Arrangements for Kali Puja
As Kali Puja is also being celebrated, the police have made special security arrangements at major pandals, temples, and sensitive areas in the city. These steps will help maintain peace and order during the festive season.
Appeal for an Eco-Friendly Diwali
The Cuttack Police have requested citizens to celebrate an eco-friendly and peaceful Diwali. They encouraged people to use green crackers and limit pollution to protect public health and the environment.
