Popular Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has firmly dismissed speculation about entering politics. The global entertainment star clarified that he is focused on his work in the entertainment industry and has no plans to join active politics.
The rumours gained traction after a civil society group in Punjab reportedly suggested that Diljit could emerge as a strong political figure for the state. However, the actor quickly responded on social media to shut down the claims.
Diljit Dosanjh Says He Is Happy in Entertainment
Diljit reacted to an article discussing his possible political future by posting a clear message on X. He wrote that he is “very happy” in his current profession and that his work is to entertain people.
The actor stated:
“Kadey v Nhi… Mera Kam Entertainment Karna. Am Very Happy in My Field. Thank You So Much.”
His response immediately drew attention online, with fans appreciating his straightforward clarification.
Why Political Speculation Around Diljit Started
The discussion around Diljit’s political future reportedly began after a public appeal by Jaago Punjab Manch, a group comprising retired bureaucrats and former Army personnel. The organisation suggested that Punjab needed a leader with public credibility and mass appeal.
The group reportedly described Diljit as someone who could inspire people because he has maintained distance from traditional politics and focused on cultural representation and social issues.
Diljit’s Previous Public Stands
Although Diljit Dosanjh has ruled out political ambitions, he has previously voiced opinions on social issues. In 2020, he openly supported the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed farm laws. His comments and social media activity during that period received national attention.
More recently, the singer also made headlines during a concert in Canada after objecting to Khalistani flags being waved in the audience. Videos from the event circulated widely on social media platforms.
Upcoming Projects of Diljit Dosanjh
On the professional front, Diljit continues to remain active in films and music. He was recently seen in Border 2 and is currently preparing for the release of Main Vaapas Aaunga.
The upcoming film is directed by Imtiaz Ali and also stars Vedang Raina, Sharvari Wagh and Naseeruddin Shah. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12.
