In a shocking incident that has sent waves of grief and outrage across the country, a 22-year-old UPSC aspirant was allegedly raped and murdered at her residence in South Delhi’s Kailash Hills area. The accused, identified as a former domestic help, has been arrested by police.
According to officials, the victim was found unconscious by her parents on Wednesday in their home. She had sustained multiple injuries and was later declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. A postmortem examination confirmed sexual assault, with strangulation cited as the cause of death.
The victim, described by family members as academically gifted and determined, had been preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination scheduled for May 24. Her family expressed confidence that she would have succeeded in her first attempt.
Investigators revealed that the accused, Rahul Meena, was apprehended from a hotel in Dwarka shortly after the crime. Preliminary findings suggest that he had previously worked at the victim’s residence and may have been familiar with the household.
Police sources also indicated that the suspect may be linked to other serious crimes, with investigations underway to establish a broader pattern of criminal activity.
The incident has raised serious concerns regarding urban safety and the need for stricter background verification of domestic workers. Authorities have assured that the case will be fast-tracked and that strict legal action will be taken against the accused.
The tragic death of the young aspirant, who was days away from both her examination and her birthday, has reignited calls for stronger measures to ensure women’s safety across the country.
