New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has described the arrest of eco-activist Disha Ravi as an “unprecedented attack on democracy”.
She was taken into custody on Saturday for her role in the “Toolkit” case. The toolkit is an online document in support of protesting Indian farmers. It witnessed the involvement of Swedish national and environmentalist Greta Thunberg.
The climate activist was arrested after being charged with sedition and conspiracy. Police had described the “Toolkit” as a Khalistani conspiracy. It also accused Ravi of being a key conspirator in the preparation of the document.
It was alleged that she was trying to revive a Sikh separatist group.
The Aam Admi Party, like Congress, Akali Dal, SP and BSP have voiced their support for the ongoing farmers’ protest against three new farm laws.
The Congress has described Ravi’s arrest as “atrocious”. The Delhi police, which arrested Ravi on Saturday evening, claimed she was influenced by terrorists like Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and Khalistani groups like Poetic Justice.
