Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House till 4 pm after the all-party meeting yielded no results.
The Opposition parties, BJD and Congress, continued to disrupt proceedings as the Odisha Assembly reconvened at 11:30 am.
Speaker Surama Padhi, unable to carry on with the session, adjourned the House until noon and summoned an all-party meeting to resolve the deadlock. However, the meeting failed to produce results, leading to a further adjournment until 4 pm.
Earlier, the Speaker had suspended the session until 11:30 am when BJD MLAs walked out, protesting the lack of action against Governor Raghubar Das’ son, who is accused of assaulting an Assistant Section Officer this month. Meanwhile, Congress MLAs protested, claiming Odisha was ignored in the Union Budget 2024.
The Opposition has accused the Mohan Majhi government of protecting the Governor’s son from the repercussions of assaulting a government official from Odisha, while also discussing Odia ‘Asmita’.
