Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Saturday cancelled the holiday and leave of all field officials in five districts in the southern part of the state as heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the areas due to the impending cyclonic storm over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment has written to the Chief District Agriculture Officer and Deputy Director of Horticulture in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam district regarding dissemination of advisory, in view of possible rain from 3rd to 6th December 2023 and cancellation of leave for 5 days.
“Referring to IMD’s Special Bulletin dated 2nd December 2023 and in view of possible heavy rain due to impending cyclonic storm over South-West Bay of Bengal all the field officials of the above districts are hereby informed to be on high alert during the warning period from 02.12.2023 to 06.12.2023 and sensitize the farmers on the advisory as attached herewith. The holiday on Sunday (3rd December) for the above Districts is hereby cancelled.” the letter read.
