The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of a fresh low‑pressure area likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal tomorrow, under the influence of an active cyclonic circulation.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across Odisha, with orange warnings issued for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts. Nineteen other districts, including Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Debagada, Anugola, Boudhagada, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kataka, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Baleshwar, are under yellow warning for thunderstorms and rainfall ranging between 7 to 11 cm.
The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across the state on August 29 and 30, with western Odisha districts likely to experience very heavy downpours on August 31. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
