Bhubaneswar: Director General of Fire Services, Odisha M. Akhaya, today visited Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts and reviewed the preparedness for the impending Cyclone Yaas.
The Fire Services DG first reached Kendrapara district and reviewed the cyclone preparedness with the Superintendent of Police along with Senior Police Officers and Senior Officers of Odisha Fire Service. He then, visited Jagatsinghpur district & discussed with the SP along with Senior Police Officers and Fire Service Officers at Paradeep and reviewed the Cyclone preparedness.
He has directed the officers to remain in readiness with manpower and machine to combat Cyclone “Yaas” coordinating with the District Administration and Police.
During this visit, DG of Fire Service also visited 125 bedded Covid Hospital at Chhata under Kendrapada district and 70 bedded Covid Hospital at Biju Yatri Nivas at Paradeep of Jagatsinghpur District.
He discussed with deployed Fire Service personnel and Hospital Employees to ascertain their preparedness on fire prevention and safety of the hospital and directed them to be alert to meet any fire emergency.
Prior to this, a review meeting was held on 20 May 2021 with all the senior Officers of Odisha Fire Service under the Chairmanship of M. Akhaya, DG of Police, Fire Service, Odisha, Cuttack to review the preparedness to combat Cyclone “YAAS”. In this meeting, all the Fire Service personnel were directed to be in readiness with relevant rescue equipment like Power saws, Inflatable tower lights, Inflatable Rubber boats, etc.
