Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police have busted the Basanti Durga Jewellery Showroom loot under Jagatpur PS limits by arresting five criminals including one receiver of the stolen ornaments.
Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh told reporters that the robbers, on December 5 night last year, entered the showroom from the rear. They decamped with 35-45 kg silver ornaments, 300-400 grms of gold ornaments and Rs 50,000-60,000 cash.
Singh said during probe they got the clue that led to the arrest of Tapan Kumar Sethi. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He also divulged the names of his associates namely Babi alias Amulya Kumar Mohanty, Muna alias Ramesh Chandra Sethi and Kuna alias Trilochan Sethi, he added.
The Cuttack DCP said silver weighing 25 kg and 500 grms, gold weighing 385 grms and Rs 12,400 were seized from their possession. A white colour Chevelerot car and two motorcycles were also seized.
