Kendrapara: A couple was found hanging inside the bedroom at Fakirabad Jena Sahi under Derabish police station in Kendrapara district on Friday.
The deceased couple has been identified as Kartik Jena (25) and his wife Pinki Das (21).
As per reports, the couple locked their bedroom and slept at night. They did not open the door late the next morning. Sensing trouble, family members broke open the door only to find them hanging from the ceiling fan.
On being informed, Derabish police went to the spot and seized the bodies before sending them for post-mortem.
Police suspect that the couple was under severe mental duress over the financial crisis which forced them to commit suicide. The exact reason can only be ascertained after investigation, police said.
A case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the incident.
