In a resolute push to counter the illegal narcotics trade, the Commissionerate Police have launched a special operation in Bhubaneswar’s Patia area.
This mission, aimed at protecting the youth, focused on identifying illegal drug activities around private educational institutions.
Acting on actionable intelligence, officials from the Special Crime Unit, accompanied by dog squads, meticulously combed the area. During the operation, small shops such as paan stalls came under scrutiny, leading to the detention of a shop owner near Sikhar Chandi on allegations of involvement in the drug trade. Further investigations are underway.
This operation follows a similar raid conducted in Acharya Vihar, where ganja-laced cigarettes were confiscated and culprits detained. Such efforts demonstrate the police’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the community, particularly young students, from exposure to harmful substances.
Senior officials expressed their dedication to dismantling these criminal networks and reinforced their resolve to make Bhubaneswar a safer place.
