Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed fertiliser availability and distribution for the upcoming Kharif season in a high-level meeting with district collectors.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure last-mile delivery so that every farmer, small or marginal, receives fertiliser as per requirement. He emphasised strict monitoring to prevent black marketing and misuse.

Key Directives

Majhi issued six major instructions:

  1. Stop black marketing and cancel the licenses of violators after filing FIRs.
  2. Monitor border areas to prevent fertiliser smuggling to other states.
  3. Prevent industrial misuse of subsidised urea.
  4. Form monitoring committees in every panchayat to oversee supply.
  5. Complete digital registration of farmers in mission mode for transparency.
  6. Promote awareness on balanced and organic fertiliser use.

Agriculture Commissioner Sachin Ramchandra Yadav reported that Odisha has 1.77 lakh metric tons of urea and over 60,000 metric tons of DAP in stock. The Centre allocated 11.42 lakh metric tons of fertiliser for the year, with 3.61 lakh metric tons already available by mid-April.

The state cancelled six dealer licenses after inspections and confirmed that the Integrated Fertiliser Management System (IFMS) tracks daily availability. The CM stressed that statistics alone are not enough and insisted on effective delivery to farmers.
