A high-level review meeting on the comprehensive development, security and promotion of Sri Jagannath culture at Puri Gobardhan Peeth and the improvement of Swargadwar beach was held today at Lokaseva Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The Chief Minister held detailed discussions with representatives of the Peeth on enhancing the spiritual dignity of Puri and ensuring the protection of the Peeth’s properties. He laid special emphasis on the daily evening ‘Sandhya Mahodadhi Arati’ held on the beach in front of Swargadwar. The Chief Minister directed that the Arati site be beautified and the evening Arati be organised on a grander scale. He further instructed the administration to develop the entire Puri beach as a magnificent spiritual beach.

Stressing the need for a permanent solution to the land-related problems of Gobardhan Peeth, the Chief Minister advised a thorough re-examination of the old land settlement records. He also directed that security arrangements for Jagadguru Shankaracharya and the Peeth premises be strengthened.

Special steps will be taken for the security and conservation of the sacred samadhi sites of all previous Acharyas of Gobardhan Peeth. The meeting also discussed the peripheral development of the Math and the provision of necessary facilities for the proper management of the ‘Sri Gobardhan Goshala’ located within the premises.

The state government remains committed to protecting the rich heritage of Gobardhan Peeth, the Chief Minister affirmed.

The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, saints and representatives of Gobardhan Peeth, and senior state government officials. Among those present were Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Chief Administrator of Srimandir Dr. Arabinda K Padhee, Law Secretary Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samal, Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida and Puri SP Prateek Singh. From the Peeth side, Arrangement Chief Prafulya Chaitanya Maharaj, Aditya Bahini head and Peeth representative Matru Prasad Mishra, along with other senior functionaries, participated in the discussions.
