Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday paid heartfelt homage to the state’s illustrious former Chief Minister and Gandhian leader Nabakrushna Choudhury on the occasion of his death anniversary.

A solemn floral tribute ceremony was held at the premises of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, where the Chief Minister garlanded Choudhury’s statue and reflected on his enduring contributions to Odisha’s socio-political fabric.

Nabakrushna Choudhury, remembered as a staunch freedom fighter, visionary administrator, and advocate of ethical governance, served as the Chief Minister of Odisha from 1950 to 1956. Revered for his commitment to simplicity and social justice, Choudhury’s legacy continues to inspire generations of leaders and citizens alike.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Majhi emphasised, “Nabakrushna Choudhury was not just a political figure but a beacon of moral integrity and public service. His ideals are deeply embedded in Odisha’s development journey.”

The commemoration was attended by several ministers, legislators, and dignitaries, who joined in remembering Choudhury’s unparalleled role in shaping post-independence Odisha. The gathering also served as a moment of introspection on the values of simplicity, austerity, and dedication to public welfare that defined his political life.

Nabakrushna Choudhury’s legacy—rooted in truth, justice, and service—continues to hold relevance in today’s socio-political landscape, reminding leaders and citizens of the timeless ideals that can shape a progressive and inclusive state.
