Western Odisha has emerged as the core engine of Odisha’s industrial growth as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Silver Jubilee edition of Enterprise Odisha 2026 in Rourkela on January 28, 2025.
The Chief Minister dedicated projects worth Rs 8,884 crore, generating 6,832 jobs. The event also secured 22 MoUs and 5 investment proposals amounting to Rs 52,026 crore, with employment potential of 20,427 opportunities.
Eleven projects worth Rs 5,708 crore were inaugurated, creating 4,183 jobs, while nine projects worth Rs 3,176 crore were grounded, adding 2,649 jobs.
The event drew over 500 attendees, including industry leaders from Tata Steel, JSW, Vedanta, SAIL, AMNS, Dalmia Cement, and MCL. Policymakers, entrepreneurs, and representatives from CII also joined.
CM Majhi declared, “We will be the best, and we will compete with the best.” He emphasised Odisha’s strategy of building anchor industries supported by MSMEs to ensure local job creation. He highlighted the theme “Odisha: Best Place to Live, Work and Do Business”, stressing that industrial growth must align with improved living standards.

- Land allotment of 1,447.927 acres handed to Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. for its proposed 3 MTPA aluminium smelter and 4,900 MW CPP project.
Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain noted that Enterprise Odisha 2026 focuses on swift delivery, skilling, and downstream expansion. The event reinforced Odisha’s transformation towards Samruddha Odisha by 2036.
