In a stirring address to the State Assembly, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati for the inspiring speech that outlined a vision for the state’s future. Majhi emphasized his government’s commitment to holistic development, focusing on youth employment, farmer support, women’s empowerment, and protecting marginalized communities.
Majhi proudly claimed that his administration’s achievements in the past eight months have outstripped the accomplishments of the previous government, which held power for 24 years. He highlighted several key initiatives, including Rs 800 per quintal input assistance to farmers, annual financial support of up to Rs 10,000 for nearly one crore women under the Subhadra Yojana and promotion of Jagannath culture.
On the issue of law and order, Majhi confidently stated that there had been no increase in crime during his administration’s tenure and challenged the opposition to identify any instances where the government had failed to act. “Several members have expressed concerns about law and order, and rightly so. As the Home Minister, I would like to state that there has been no increase in crime in the past eight months,” Majhi declared.
Education and urban housing were also major points of focus, with Majhi outlining the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, the transformation of schools into centers of excellence, and the provision of affordable housing in urban areas.
In addressing natural disasters, Majhi detailed the government’s proactive response, which included a Rs 292 crore agricultural input subsidy to aid affected farmers and the evacuation and sheltering of approximately eight lakh individuals during Cyclone “Daana.”
Majhi highlighted the positive impact of double-engine governance, noting the prioritization of railways, roads, ports, and airports. He announced ambitious plans to connect 30 districts by rail and establish industries in every district, stating, “Today, the impact of double-engine governance is visible in every sector. Odisha is receiving priority in railways, roads, ports, and airports. Our government aims to connect 30 districts of the state by rail, and this will be achieved very soon. Industries will be established in every district of the state.”
The Chief Minister concluded his address by thanking the Governor for presenting a clear roadmap for building a prosperous Odisha and urged elected representatives to work tirelessly for the development, prosperity, and welfare of every citizen.
