Odisha is set to host the 2nd National Mediation Conference at Loka Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on September 27-28, bringing together some of India’s most eminent legal minds, policymakers, and jurists to advance the national dialogue on mediation.
Organized under the aegis of the Office of the Advocate General and the Odisha Law Department, the conference aims to empower citizens and practitioners with knowledge and skills to embrace mediation as a fast, effective, and harmonious method of dispute resolution.
The event will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai, and will be graced by dignitaries including Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Justice Surya Kant, Attorney General R. Venkataramani, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, and senior judges from the Orissa High Court.
Advocate General Pitambar Acharya emphasized Odisha’s pioneering role in popularizing the Mediation Act, 2023, stating, “This is a landmark occasion. Mediation reflects the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make justice accessible to all.”
The first edition of the conference was held in May 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in the presence of the President of India. Odisha now takes the lead in continuing this national movement, reinforcing its commitment to people-centric justice and legal innovation.
