In a significant push for greater transparency and exam integrity, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, has directed all affiliated higher secondary schools and colleges to complete the installation and functional verification of CCTV surveillance systems by November 30, 2026.
The order, issued by Dr. Prasanta Kumar Parida, Controller of Examinations, covers EMH Strong Rooms, examination halls, Centre Superintendent’s rooms, and laboratories. The goal is to enable continuous recording of all critical activities related to the Annual Higher Secondary Examination, 2027, including the safe handling of question papers.
According to the official circular, five live streams from every examination centre must be made available to officials at CHSE headquarters, the School & Mass Education Department, and the respective District Collectorates. This multi-level monitoring arrangement is intended to allow real-time oversight and reduce the scope for malpractices.
Schools that already have CCTV systems must ensure the cameras are fully functional, correctly time-stamped, and tested well in advance. Institutions that have applied for new examination centres are required to install the cameras as a precondition. The directive also stresses that cameras should be ready for use from the day question papers arrive in the strong room until the examinations begin.
The move reflects CHSE’s ongoing efforts to modernise examination administration and restore public confidence in the Plus Two board exams.
With the November 30 deadline now firmly in place, colleges across Odisha are expected to accelerate installation work and update their compliance status on the official SAMs e-space portal.
