Under the directive of the Puri Collector, authorities have begun a large-scale eviction of unauthorised enclosures in Chilika Lake, specifically from the Budhibar Nasee area under Krushnaprasad Tehsil.

On the first day of operations, over 92 acres of earthen bunds and illegal fishing nets were cleared.

The coordinated action involved the Krushnaprasad Tehsildar Bikash Sethi, supported by 40 workers and a platoon of police personnel led by SDPO Bhabagrahi Rout to ensure peaceful proceedings.

Key officials—including RI Prateek Panda, Supervisor Laxmikant Patra, Assistant RI Gokul Pradhan, and Chilika GPS Operator Rakesh Rout—also contributed actively.

The eviction drive will continue until Chilika is completely free of encroachments, said Tehsildar Sethi.
