Sambalpur: The childline officials along with the district administration have stopped a child marriage at Jamankira block in Sambalpur district on Thursday.
According to available information, the 16-year-old girl of the village was scheduled to get married to youth on June 30 at Veden village in Bargarh district.
On receiving information, Jamankir CDPO and Child marriage prohibition officer (CMPO), Jayashree Pattanayak along with childline officials reached the minor’s house and made them aware that child marriage is illegal.
Later, the marriage was postponed and a written statement was submitted to ASI Sudhir Kumar Mahakul at Gaudpalli Outpost.
