In a shocking twist to the case of missing taxi driver Bidyadhara Sahoo, whose body was recently recovered from Chandaka, police investigations now suggest that he may have died by suicide while being held captive by alleged kidnappers.
Alleged Link to Job Fraud Racket
Preliminary findings indicate that Sahoo was allegedly involved in a large-scale job fraud racket. Police sources revealed that he acted as a middleman, collecting large sums of money from unemployed youth on the pretext of providing them jobs.
Kidnapping and Death
According to investigators, three youths abducted Sahoo on September 15 and took him to Jajpur, reportedly demanding that he return the money he had taken from job seekers. Unable to arrange the cash, Sahoo allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan inside the house where he was being held captive.
Body Dumped to Mislead Police
Investigators believe the abductors, fearing exposure, shifted Sahoo’s body and dumped it in Chandaka to create the impression of a murder and divert police attention.
Focus on Alleged Mastermind Jyotsna
The case has also brought attention to a woman named Jyotsna, whom police describe as the mastermind behind the multi-crore job fraud. She is accused of duping aspirants of over ₹5 crore, with Sahoo allegedly working as her associate. Jyotsna is currently absconding, and police have launched an intensive manhunt to arrest her.
Abductors Suspected from Gajapati
Police suspect the three abductors involved in the case hail from Gajapati district. Search operations are underway to track them down and establish the exact sequence of events that led to Sahoo’s death.
