The Office of the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, hosted a comprehensive day-long orientation programme for around 80 newly inducted Sub-Inspectors today at the Padhee Memorial Hall, IPS Officers’ Mess, Kataka.
Organised under the guidance of Shri Vinaytosh Mishra, IPS, DGP (HoPF), Odisha, the event brought together newly appointed officers from across all seven districts under the Central Range: Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh.
Anchoring Integrity, Sensitivity, and Modern Law Enforcement
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Dr Satyajit Naik, IGP, Central Range, Kataka, highlighted the core pillars of effective law enforcement—discipline, integrity, citizen sensitivity, and an unyielding commitment to the rule of law.
Addressing the young officers, Dr Naik stressed the need to constantly upgrade skills to stay ahead of evolving criminal dynamics. “True policing lies in balancing firm legal enforcement with empathy toward the public,” he stated, encouraging the cohort to discharge their duties with impartiality and professional pride.
Combatting Cyber Threats and Nurturing Professional Growth
With digital offences rising nationwide, Shri Madkar Sandeep Sampat, IPS, DIG, Crime Branch, Odisha, delivered a critical session as Guest of Honour on the expanding dimensions of cybercrime. He sensitised the Sub-Inspectors to emerging technological threats, modern investigative tools, and the urgency of developing digital capabilities to combat complex online crimes.
Adding a holistic professional development perspective, Dr Ram Kishore Sharma from National Career Services (and former Head, NCDS, Government of India) guided the officers through career growth strategies, stress management, and workplace ethics, offering realistic insights into maintaining a balanced, responsible approach in high-pressure roles.
