The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its investigation into the alleged Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam by questioning a growing number of aspirants. As part of the ongoing probe, several candidates appeared before investigators on Tuesday to record their statements.
According to officials, the CBI is collecting first-hand accounts from aspirants to understand the nature and scale of the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. On Monday alone, statements of 10 candidates were recorded. These interactions aim to reconstruct how the alleged scam operated and to identify all individuals involved.
Notices Issued to 150 Aspirants
The agency has issued notices to 150 aspirants, directing them to appear before the CBI in a phased manner. Investigators are gathering detailed information, and the findings from these statements will guide the next steps of the investigation. Sources indicated that several of the summoned candidates were allegedly linked to the suspected “deal” connected to the recruitment process.
Over the last three days, nearly 30 aspirants have been questioned. The CBI is also monitoring candidates who have failed to appear despite receiving summons. Officials believe that some of these individuals may have played an active role in the alleged scam, including introducing other aspirants. Such cases could lead to further legal action, including arrests.
Scrutiny of STL, OPRB and Official Involvement
Sources suggest that critical information related to Silicon Tech Lab Private Limited (STL) and the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) is emerging during the questioning. Statements recorded so far reportedly indicate possible involvement of certain OPRB officials in the alleged irregularities.
The CBI is focusing on determining whether any government officials were directly or indirectly involved, the nature of their communication with the accused, and whether aspirants were given assurances regarding selection. Investigators are also examining how candidates were approached and persuaded to trust the alleged arrangement.
Chargesheet Filed, Probe Continues
Earlier, the CBI had filed charge-sheets against the accused in the case. The alleged scam has raised serious concerns about transparency, fairness, and integrity in public recruitment processes.
It is noteworthy that the Odisha Crime Branch had earlier given a clean chit to Silicon Tech Lab in connection with the SI examination. However, the subsequent CBI chargesheet pointed to large-scale manipulation, prompting a broader and more detailed investigation, which remains ongoing.
