Athagarh: In a tragic incident, four youths were killed and another was seriously injured when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck near Nuasadak chhak under Tigiria police limit in Cuttack district on Monday.
According to sources, five youths— Subas Behera (36) of Bindhanima village, Chandan Khatua (28), Anand Behera (39) of Bindhanima Baneswarpada, Silu Pusti (27) of Nuapatna village and Deepak Sahu were returning home after a tour from Ansupa lake when the vehicle had a head-on collision with a speeding truck coming from Narasinghpur side at around 3 pm today.
On being informed, Tigiria police and Athagarh Fire Department reached the spot and pulled out the victims trapped in the mangled car by using gas cutters.
While four of them were found dead on the spot, Deepak Sahu was admitted to the hospital. Later, he was shifted to Cuttack in a critical condition.
The dead bodies have been kept at the Athagarh Mortuary due to a delay in the post-mortem. Tomorrow, the dead bodies will be handed over to the family members after autopsy, said Tigiria IIC Gyanaranjan Samal.
