Ganjam: Two persons died while one was critically injured after a speeding pick-up van ran over them near Nandigora Tota under the Dharakote police station limits of Ganjam district on Tuesday.
According to sources, a pick-up van coming towards Sorada lost balance due to high speed and ran over three persons who were buying meat at a local shop at around 11 am today.
The deceased persons have been identified as Panchu Behera of Magurapali village and Sujata Sethi of Gadadamodarpali village. While the former was declared dead at the Dharakote Community Health Centre, Sethi succumbed to fatal injuries while being shifted to Aska hospital.
Another person Bidu Gouda of Janabili village, who sustained critical injuries in the mishap, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. On intimation, Dharakote police reached the spot and seized the vehicle.
