A passenger bus named Patra Maa Bankeswari met with an accident near Pushuguda Chhak in Malkangiri district early Tuesday morning when it lost balance and struck a roadside tree.
The bus, bearing registration number OD 30F 5119, was travelling from Motu towards Malkangiri around 6 a.m. when the mishap occurred. Fortunately, no passengers sustained injuries. However, the front windshield and lower portion of the bus suffered significant damage.
According to the bus owner, another bus named Sai Krishna was approaching from the opposite direction when a cow suddenly ran onto the road. To avoid a head-on collision, the driver swerved and lost balance, causing the bus to veer off the road and hit a tree. The owner credited the driver’s quick thinking for preventing a major accident.
Passengers were shifted to another bus and sent to their destinations. Later, the damaged bus was removed from the accident site by the owner.
