Bhadrak: Excise sleuths on Friday seized around 110 grams of brown sugar from a peddler near Nalanga Chhak on National Highway-16 in the district.
The accused identified as Trilochan Nayak, a resident of Nalanga village, has been arrested, the police said.
Acting on a reliable input, the Excise dept officials intercepted a vehicle on the NH-16 and recovered 110 grams of brown sugar during checking.
The officials said that the seized contraband is estimated to worth Rs 11 lakh.
As per the preliminary investigation, accused Trilochan used to procure the contraband from Jaleswar of Balasore district and sell it in this village and nearby locality. Further investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace the other persons involved in smuggling of the narcotics substance, the Excise officials informed.
