Project Arunank of BRO marked its 18th Raising Day on October 24, 2025, in Naharlagun. The event celebrated 17 years of service in Arunachal Pradesh’s tough terrain.
Since 2008, BRO built over 696 km of roads and 1.18 km of bridges. These roads connect remote valleys and support Armed Forces operations.
BRO completed the 278 km Hapoli-Sarli-Huri Road. It was blacktopped for the first time since Independence. This road connects Kurung Kumey’s remotest region.
In 2020, BRO upgraded the road to NHDL standards. In 2021, they double-laned the Kimin-Potin Road.
On December 28, 2022, BRO connected Maza near the Line of Actual Control. They will inaugurate the TCC-Maza Road in November 2025. The TCC-Taksing Road is already complete.
BRO is working on Huri-Tapa and Taksing Ghora Camp-Lung OP roads. They aim to finish both by year-end.
To improve durability, BRO uses Steel Slag, Geo Cells, Plastic Sheets, GGBFS Concrete, and Gabion Walls. These technologies boost road strength and reduce environmental damage.
BRO held a Motorable Expedition on the Naharlagun-Ziro route. It promoted road safety and awareness.
Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, BRO planted 23,850 trees across Arunachal Pradesh.
BRO launched welfare measures for Casual Paid Labourers. These include better shelters, protective gear, and health camps.
Looking ahead, BRO will widen roads and build new bridges and tunnels. They will also improve high-altitude connectivity.
BRO plans to use geotextiles, slope stabilizers, and digital tools. These will improve safety and reduce maintenance.
Project Arunank continues to lead in infrastructure, sustainability, and inclusive growth. It drives progress in India’s northeastern frontier.
