Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to represent India at the 15th Meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers, scheduled to take place in Brasilia, Brazil on April 17.
The meeting, which brings together key stakeholders from BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) and additional partner countries, aims to foster inclusive and sustainable agricultural development through cooperation, innovation, and equitable trade.
As part of his official engagements, Shri Chouhan will hold bilateral meetings with Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Henrique Baqueta Favarro and Agriculture Development & Family Farming Minister Luiz Paulo Teixeira. Discussions will focus on strengthening ties between India and Brazil in agricultural technology, food security, and rural development.
Furthering India’s outreach in Brazil, Shri Chouhan will interact with top leaders in agribusiness and representatives from the Brazilian Vegetable Oil Industry Association to explore investment opportunities. His visit also includes a tree plantation drive at the Indian Embassy in Brasilia under the ‘Ek Tree Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, which promotes environmental awareness and celebrates motherhood.
Additionally, he will engage with the Indian diaspora in São Paulo, acknowledging their contributions as cultural ambassadors and key supporters of bilateral relations. India’s participation in the event highlights its commitment to agricultural innovation and global cooperation through the BRICS framework.
