The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced the establishment of a dedicated breastfeeding room within the premises of the iconic Puri Srimandir.
The facility, set to be located near the temple’s branch office, will offer a safe, private, and hygienic space for lactating mothers to feed their infants during temple visits. Responding to long-standing appeals from devotees and social activists, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee has directed officials to expedite arrangements for operationalising the room.
To ensure smooth functioning and accessibility, the breastfeeding room will be managed by a designated female staff member. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of women pilgrims, particularly those travelling long distances with young children to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
This development marks a progressive step in making religious spaces more inclusive and family-friendly, aligning with broader efforts to improve public amenities at heritage sites.
