Bolangir police arrested 10 accused in connection with a jewellery shop dacoity at Chudapali under the Sadar police station limits.
The arrests followed the January 30 night robbery at Maa Mangala Jewellery, where gold and silver ornaments were looted.
Superintendent of Police Abhilash G informed at a press conference on Thursday evening that six of the accused belong to Nayagarh district, three are from Bolangir, and one had purchased stolen property. Police seized a car, motorcycles, mobile phones, and silver ornaments from the accused.
The arrested include Pancha Naik, Sushant Rana, Pandia Bhujabal, Ekal Swain, Chandan Patra, Kalia Maharana, Sunil Sahu, Ramkumar Sahu, Subash Bag, and Fortune Kumar Sahu, who allegedly bought the stolen jewellery.
Investigations revealed that the gang was also involved in loot incidents under the Sadar and Loisingha police station areas. SDPO Saroj Upadhyay, Town PS officer Avani Sahu, and Sadar PS officer Rajkumar Biswal attended the press briefing.
Police said the crackdown was part of intensified operations against organised crime in the district. The arrests and recovery of stolen property have brought relief to traders and residents who had expressed concern after the daring dacoity.
