Odisha Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan announced that Booth Level Officers will begin door-to-door visits from May 30 to June 28 for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The CEO said BLOs will distribute two pre-printed enumeration forms to each voter. One form must be submitted to the BLO, while the other will remain with the voter as acknowledgement. Citizens can also download and upload forms online via the Election Commission portal.
Officials confirmed that the draft voter list will be published on July 5. Claims and objections can be filed until August 4, with disposal continuing until September 2. The final voter list will be published on September 6.
Authorities reported that mapping of 3,16,03,323 voters has been completed, covering 94.61 per cent of the electorate. BLOs identified 17 per cent logical errors, which will be corrected during the revision.
The CEO emphasised transparency and political party participation. Parties have already appointed over 33,000 Booth Level Agents to assist in the process. A total of 45,255 BLOs will conduct house-to-house visits across the state.
To ensure safety during summer fieldwork, BLOs have been instructed to conduct visits between 6 AM and 11 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM. Police and election officers will provide immediate support if BLOs face difficulties.
