BJP state president Manmohan Samal on Thursday strongly criticized the Congress and BJD, accusing them of violating the dignity of the Odisha Legislative Assembly through unruly conduct.
Speaking at a press conference in Bhubaneswar, Samal expressed disappointment over the recent disruptions in the Assembly. He stated that such behavior was unbecoming of a responsible Opposition and urged them to engage in constructive criticism instead of chaos.
He also condemned the way the Speaker was treated, emphasizing that politics should focus on governance, not propaganda and shortcuts.
Samal further alleged that the BJD is unable to accept its electoral defeat and continues to act as if it still governs the state. He urged the Opposition to move forward, introspect, and contribute positively to Odisha’s development instead of opposing the government without valid reasons.
Bringing up past controversies, he reminded the public of incidents like the Biluakhai river scam, Anjana Mishra case, and Chabi Rani case, stating that such dark chapters should not be repeated.
Samal claimed that the BJP had cooperated when in Opposition and called on Congress and BJD to do the same for the state’s progress.
“The recent incidents in the Odisha Assembly have tarnished the sanctity of the House. The behavior towards the Speaker is unacceptable. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but the Opposition must act responsibly,” he asserted.
